New England Colonists, 1600-1700 Colcord-Comby or Combee

Colcord

Edward was a planter and born in England in 1617. He is found in Mass. in 1631 then at Dover, N.H. in 1640. He is living in Hampton, N.H. by 1644, Saco, Maine in 1668 and finally returning to Hampton, N.H. by 1673.

 

Coldam or Coldham

Clement was a miller at Lynn, Mass. in 1630.

Thomas, brother of Clement, is found at Lynn in 1630.

 

Cole, Coale or Coales

Alexander was a Scotchman at Salem, Mass. in 1685.

Arthur is found to have died at Cambridge, Mass. in 1676.

Clement was born near London, England in 1615 and came to Boston by 1635. He was granted land in Braintree, Mass. after that year.

Daniel was a tailor who was born in England in 1614. He is found at Plymouth, Mass. in 1637, removed to Yarmouth, Mass. and is lastly found at Eastham, Mass. in 1643.

Edward is at Pemaquid, Maine in 1674.

Francis is at Boston, Mass. in 1689.

George is found at Lynn, Mass. in 1637 and then in Sandwich, Mass. a few years later.

Gregory was at Portsmouth, R.I. in 1655.

Henry was at Sandwich, Mass. in 1643 before removing to Middletown, Conn. in 1646.

Henry was at Boston pre-1687.

Isaac came from Sandwich, Kent, England in 1635 and is found at Charlestown, Mass. shortly after.

Jacob was at Charlestown in 1669.

James was a tavern keeper and was born at Highgate, England in 1600. He is found at Saco, Maine by 1632 and went to Plymouth the next year.

James was of Hartford, Mass. in 1635.

Job, brother of Daniel, was at Plymouth, Duxbury, Mass.. Yarmouth, Mass and then at Eastham, Mass. with his brother.

John was another brother of Job who came to New England with his brothers, but died in 1637.

John was at Boston pre-1642.

John was a carpenter at Hartford, Conn. sometime pre-1647.

John was at Boston, where he married, in 1659.

John was at Hadley, Mass. in 1666.

John was at Gloucester, Mass. in 1669.

John was living at Pemaquid, Maine in 1674.

Nicholas is at Wells, Maine in 1658.

Rice, or Rise, was at Boston in 1630.

Sampson was at Boston, where he was married, in 1673.

Samuel came with Winthrop's Fleet in 1630. He opened the first "hotel of entertainment" in New England at Boston.

Robert was at Roxbury, Mass. in 1630, then removed to Hampton, N.H. in 1638.

William was born at England in 1580. He was at Exeter, N.H. by 1639 then removed to Wells, Maine the next year.

William was at Boston sometime pre-1687.

 

Coleman

Thomas came from Marlborough, Wiltshire, England in 1635 and settled at Newbury, Mass. by 1637. He then removed to Nantucket, Mass. in 1663.

Thomas was at Wethersfield, Conn. in 1639 and then went to Hadley, Mass. by 1656.

 

Coley or Colley

Samuel was one of the first settlers of Milford, Conn. in 1639.

 

Colfax

William was at Wethersfield, Conn. in 1645.

 

Collamore or Collemore

Anthony was a shipmaster who is found to have married at Scituate, Mass. in 1666. Sadly, he is also found to have been wrecked and sea and died in 1693.



Isaac was a shipwright and was granted lands at Braintree, Mass. in 1638 but is found in Boston two years earlier.

James is at Salem in 1668.

Peter, uncle to Anthony, is at Scituate in 1643 but died without issue.

 

Collar or Coller

John was born at England in 1633 and is found at Cambridge pre-1661.

 

Collicott or Collacot

Edward was at Hampton, N.H. in 1642.

Richard was a freeman at Dorchester, Mass. in 1633, removed to Boston by 1656, to Falmouth, Maine in 1669 and lastly at Saco, Maine.

 

Collier or Collyer

Joseph was at Salisbury, Mass. pre-1662.

Thomas was born in England in 1575 and settled at Hingham, Mass. in 1635.

 

Collins

Abraham was at Dover, N.H. in 1666.

Benjamin was a resident of Salisbury in 1668.

Benjamin was at Lynn in 1691.

Christopher was born in 1606 at England and is found in Boston pre-1640, when is is granted lands in Braintree. He then went to Saco, Maine by 1660 and at Scarborough, Maine by 1664.

Daniel was born in 1648 at England and settled at Enfield, Conn. ca. 1680.

Ebenezer was married at New Haven, Conn. in 1683.

Edward was born in England in 1603 at located at Cambridge in 1638. He then removed to Medford.

Francis was at Salem, Mass. in 1637.

Henry was born in 1606 at England before being found at Lynn in 1635.

John was a shoemaker and tanner and brother of Edward and son of John, of Suffolk, England. He was born in 1616 and came to Boston in 1638, then is found to be a member of the church at Braintree by 1646.

John was at Cambridge, Watertown, Sudbury and Farmington all previous to 1687.

Samuel was at New London, Conn. as early as 1680 before removing to Lynn, Conn..

Thomas was a merchant to Boston in 1677.

 

Colman

Edward was married at Boston in 1648.

John was at Dover, N.H. in 1661.

Joseph was a shoemaker who came from Sandwich, Kent, England in 1635. He went to Charlestown, Mass. in 1638 and then to Scituate.

William came from Satterly, Norfolk, England to Boston in 1671.

 

Colson

Adam was at Reading, Mass. pre-1668.

Nathaniel was at Newport, R.I. pre-1678.

 

Colt or Coult

John was the 5th generation from Sir Peter and was born at Colchester, Essex, England. He came to Dorchester, Mass. at the age of 11 years in 1625, then to Hartford, Conn. in 1638 and then to Windsor, Conn.

 

Coltman or Cultman

John was a schoolmaster of Wethersfield, Conn. in 1645,.

 

Colton

George came from Sutton, Coldfield, Warwichshire, England in 1644 to Springfield, Mass at an unknown date, and is later found at Long Meadow, Mass..

 

Colwell

Robert is at Providence, R.I. in 1654 and then removed to L.I. by 1667.

 

Coly, Colie, Coley

Peter was at Fairfield, Conn. in 1668.

Samuel lived in Milford, Conn. in 1639.

 

Combs or Coombs

Anthony was a seafarer and of French Huguenot descendancy. He was born in France about 1656 and came to Plymouth in 1674 before removing to Berwick, Maine.

Henry was at Marblehead, Mass. in 1648.

John was at Plymouth in 1636.

John was a cooper and married at Boston in 1662.

John was at Northampton, Mass. pre-1690 before moving to Springfeld sometime previous to 1714.

John was at Sherborn, Mass. in 1676.

Thomas was in Maine as early as 1665.

 

Comby or Combee

Robert was at Boston in 1681.

The ancient Mariner of New England

Cobb

Austin or Augustine, was living at Taunton, Mass. in 1670.
Edward, brother of preceding, was at Taunton in 1657.
Henry, born at Kent, England in 1596, came to Plymouth in 1629, then to Scituate, Mass. in 1633 before finally removing to Barnstable, Mass. by 1639.
John, brother of Henry, was at Taunton in 1659.

 
Cobbett

Josiah was born in England in 1614 before coming to N.E. in 1635. He was at Cambridge, Mass. before going to Hingham, Mass. in 1637 and was also a proprietor of Salisbury, Mass. in 1640.
Rev. Thomas was born at Newbury, Bucks, England in 1608 and came to N.E. in 1637. He went to Lynn, Mass. in 1656 before ending at Ipswich, Mass. afterward.


Cobble

Edward was a resident of Salisbury pre-1652.

 
Cobham

Josiah was living at Salisbury in 1640 before being found at Boston in 1659.

 
Cobleigh

John was a shoemaker who came to Swanzey, Mass. sometime previous to 1635. He is also found at N.H. a decade later.

 
Cochran

William was at Boston in 1684.


Cockerill

William was at Hingham, Mass. in 1635 and is found in Salem in 1661, when he died.

 

Cockerum

William was a mercer who was born in England in 1609. He is found at Hingham in 1637.

 
Coddington

John is found at Boston by 1650.
William was born in Boston, Lincolnshire, England before coming with Winthrop's Fleet in 1630. He went to Boston but went back to England. By 1633, he returned to Boston and is found at Newport, R.I. by 1636.


Codman

Robert was at Salem in 1637.
William was at Portsmouth, N.H. pre-1661.


Codner

Christopher was at Marblehead, Mass. pre-1660.
Edward was at New London, Conn. in 1651 and then at Saybrook, Conn. by 1669.
Peter was a mariner at Boston pre-1674.
Richard is found at Swanzey, Mass. by 1671, when he was married.

 
Coe

Matthew was a fisherman at Portsmouth, N.H. in 1645. He then went to Gloucester, Mass. and ended up at Casco, Maine.
Robert, son of Henry, VIIIth generation from John Coe(b. 1340)was born in 1596 at Thorpe-Morieux, Suffolk, England and came to Watertown, Mass. in 1634. The following year, he went to Wethersfield, Conn. and also became one of the founders of Stamford, Conn. by 1640. He then went to Hempstead, L.I. in 1652, Newtown, L.I. and also was a founder of Jamaica, L.I. in 1658.

Coffin

Tristram was born at Buxton, Dorsetshire, England and came to N.E. with his mother Joanna(widow of Peter)when he settled at Newbury, Mass. in 1643. Afterward, he went to Salisbury, Mass. and by 1660, he is found at Nantucket, Mass..

 
Coggan or Cogan

Henry was at Barnstable, Mass. in 1639.
John, merchant, was at Dorchester, Mass. in 1632 and then in Boston a few years later.
John, son of Humphrey, was at Boston in 1642.
John was at Charlestown in 1664.

 
Coggeshall

John was a mercer at Roxbury, Mass in 1632. He was born at Essex, England in 1581 and two years later, he is found at Boston. By 1637, he is at Providence, R.I. and one of the founders of Newport, R.I..

 
Cogswell(see Coggeshall)

John, son of Edward and grandson of Robert, was a woolen cloth manufacturer at Westbury, Lehigh, Wiltshire, England before coming to N.E. in 1635. Born in Westbury in 1592, he is then found as a freeman at Ipswich, Mass. by 1636.
John, of Trowbridge, England, was at Pascoag, R.I. in 1652.
Robert was at New Haven, Conn. in 1643, but soon left to an undisclosed location.
Samuel was married at Saybroook, Conn. in 1668.

 

Coit or Coyte

John was a shipwright who was born at Glamorganshire, Wales and granted land at Salem in 1638. He removed to Gloucester in 1644 and finallly to New London in 1650.


Coker

Richard was at Hartford in 1640.
Robert was at Newbury, Mass. in 1634.

 
Colbron, Colburn or Coulborne

Edward was born at England in 1618 and came to Boston in 1635. He then settled at Ipswich and was a pioneer settler at Chelmsford, Mass. before dying in the King Philip's War.
John was at Dedham, Mass. in 1672.
Nathaniel was also at Dedham in 1637.
Richard was at Dorchester, Mass. by 1641.
Robert, brother of Edward, was born at England in 1607 and is at Ipswich in 1635.
William came to Boston in Winthrops Fleet of 1630.

 
Colby

Anthony also came with Winthrop to Boston in 1630. He then is found at Cambridge by 1632, Salisbury in 1634 and Amesbury, Mass. by 1647.
Arthur was the brother of the preceding and at Ipswich in 1637
