New England Colonists, 1600-1700 Cheseborough-Clapham

Cheseborough or Chesseborough

William, born in 1594 near Boston, Lincolnshire, England, he came to Boston, Mass. in 1630 and then went to Braintree. He is then found at Rehoboth by 1643 and by 1650, William is listed as one of the founders of Stonington, Conn..

 

Chesholme or Chisholm

Thomas is at Cambridge by 1636; leaving no issue.

 

Chesley

Philip is found at Dover, N.H. in 1642.

 

Chester

Leonard was the son of Balby, of Leicester, England and was at Watertown, Mass. in 1635, before removing to Wethersfield, Conn. in 1636.

Samuel was a navigator and was born about 1625 in England. He was at Boston in 1663 and went to New London, Conn. the same year.

Samuel is a merchant at Boston in 1676.

 
Chichester

James was at Taunton in 1643, Salem in 1650 and Huntington in 1664.

William, brother of preceding, was at Marblehead, Mass. in 1648.

 
Chick

Richard was at Roxbury in 1678.

Thomas was at Dover, N.H. in 1671.

 
Chickering

Francis came from Suffolk, England in 1637 and was a freeman at Dedham in 1640.

Henry was a physician and brother of the preceding. He was the son of Stephen, grandson of Thomas of Wymondham, England and came from Ringsford, England to become a proprietor of Salem in 1630. He then went to Dedham, Mass. shortly after.

 


Child or Childs

Alwin was a merchant of Boston in 1673.

Benjamin, son of Benjamin, was at Roxbury, Mass. in 1630 and went to Boston after.

Ephraim came from Nayland, Suffolk, England and was a freeman at Watertown, Mass. in 1631.

Jeremiah was living at Swanzey, Mass. by 1669.

John was at Watertown pre-1664.

Richard, brother of preceding, was at Watertown and then Barnstable, Mass. previous to 1663.

Richard was married at Marshfield, Mass. in 1665.

Robert, physician, came from Northfleet, Kent, England and was at Watertown before being granted land at Lancaster, Mass.. He never married.

Samuel came to Plymouth early and was killed by Indians during King Phillip's war in 1675.

William, brother of Ephraim, was born about 1600 at England and is found to have been a freeman at Watertown in 1634.

 
Chillingworth or Chillingsworth

Thomas was at Lynn, Mass pre-1637, where he is found at Sandwich, Mass. By 1648, he had removed to Marshfield, Mass..

 
Chilson

John was married at Lynn, Mass. in 1667.

Walsingham came from Kent, England to Marblehead, Mass. by 1647.


Chilton

James was a Mayflower passenger and was at Plymouth in 1620. He left no issue.

 
Chinn or Chine

George was at Salem, Mass. in 1638 and then to Marblehead by 1648.


Chipman

John, son of Thomas, of Dorchester, Dorsetshire, Engand, was born in 1613. He was at Plymouth sometime previous to 1650, where he is found at Yarmouth, Mass..

 
Chipperfield

Edmund was a brickmaker who was born in England in 1615. He was a resident of New Haven, Conn. in 1639, where he died in 1648.


Chisholme

Thomas came to New England sometime previous to 1653.


Chittenden

John was the son of Robert of Cranbrook, Kent, England and was baptized in 1594. He was at New Haven, Conn. in 1639 and was also one of the first settlers of Guilford, Conn..

Thomas was a linen weaver who came from Kent County, England, where he was born in 1585. He was at Scituate, Mass. in 1635.

William, brother of John, settled at New Haven in 1639 and afterwards at Guilford, Conn..


Choate

John was born in England in 1624 and came from Sudbury, Suffolk, England. He is at Ipswich, Mass. in 1648.

 
Christophers

Christopher was a mariner from Devonshire, England and is found at New London, Conn. by 1667.

Jeffrey was a brother of the preceding and was also at New London in 1667.

Richard was at Boston pre-1685.


Chubb

Thomas was born at Crewkerne, Somerset, England in 1609. He was at Boston before 1630, then went to Dorchester, then Salem by 1636. Lastly found at Beverly, Mass..

 
Chubbuck

Thomas was at Charlestown in 1634 and then went to Hingham, Mass. the next year.

 
Church

Cornelius was married at Groton, Mass. in 1670.

Garrett, or Jared, was born in 1611 and is found at Watertown, Mass. in 1637.

John was at Dover, N.H. in 1662 and at Salisbury, Mass. by 1666.

Richard was a carpenter and came with Winthrop's Fleet to Weymouth, Mass.. He removed to Plymouth in 1633, then to Charlestown by 1653, HIngham in 1657 and lastly to Sandwich in 1664.

Richard was an original porprietor at Hartford in 1637 before removing to Hadley, Mass. in 1660.

 
Churchill

Jermiah was married at Wethersfield, Mass. in 1638.

John was born around 1620 in England and is found at Plymouth in 1643.

 
Churchman

Humphrey was at Kittery, Maine in 1677.

Josiah is married at Wethersfield in 1667.

 
Chute

Lionel was a schoolmaster at Ipswich, Mass. in 1639.


Claflin

Robert was a freeman at Wenham, Mass. in 1661.

 
Clap or Clapp

Ambrose came to Dorchester, Mass. in 1636.

Edward came to New England by 1633 and is found to have been a freeman by 1636.

Increase was married at Barnstable in 1675.

Nicholas, brother of Ambrose and son of Richard Clap of Dorchester, England, was born in 1612. He is found at Dorchester, Mass. in 1636.

Robert came from Littenham, Devonshire, England to Dorchester, Mass. in 1660 and is found at Boston in 1687.

Capt. Roger, son of William and brother of Edward, was born at Salcombe Regis in 1609. He is found at Dorchester in 1630 and then at Weymouth in 1638. He is found at Scituate a year or two later.

 
Clapham

Arthur was at New Hampshire pre-1676.

Peter was at Fairfield, Conn. in 1670 and is at Norwalk, Conn. in 1672.
